JC Calhoun - Musician Bio...
The songwriting, recording and performing team of Paris & Calhoun began in May 1998. Steve Paris and JC Calhoun each have been performing in a professional capacity over the past twenty-five years in a variety of local and national venues. Their collective talents and experiences are the foundation that forged Paris & Calhoun and their personal recording facility, Millennium Studio. Steve and JC began their music endeavors in local clubs and private engagements throughout the greater Pittsburgh area, always in parallel to each other, but never in the same band or project until their paths crossed in 1994.
Prior to their union in 1994, Steve Paris traveled throughout the national club and concert circuits performing in both cover and original bands as opening and main acts. Steve’s primary instrument is the keyboards, to include piano, organ, synthesizers, digital programming, and vocals, but has also expanded into the areas of songwriting, producing and engineering incorporating a general knowledge of percussion, string and woodwind and brass instruments. Throughout the years Steve has had the opportunity to perform on stage with members of Chicago, Kenny G., Rick Derringer, Blackfoot, and Jason Bonham to list a few. As a musical director for many of the bands and projects, such as the original rock-opera “Etheria”, Steve developed arrangement and charting skills across a multitude of genres that would prove beneficial in developing Millennium Studio and the live sound of Paris & Calhoun.
JC Calhoun also performed across many states performing as opening and main acts. JC’s instruments of choice are the bass, acoustic and electric guitars, as well as vocals and keyboards. Additionally, JC lends his talents to the development of Millennium Studio in the areas of songwriting and production evident in the Paris & Calhoun original song “We’ll Stand Together”, which was inspired and dedicated to the emotions of Americans after the September 11th tragedies. JC has performed with Johnny Angel and the Halos, The Members Only Band, Lenny G. and Unlimited, and other various artists throughout the years. His stage presence, drive and interaction with other players has proven instrumental in delivering a unified group performance to audiences. Together, Paris & Calhoun, continue to be an integral part of the music scene in the greater Pittsburgh area through live performances, associations and recording of original songs as captured on the CD “We’ll Stand Together”.
